The Essence of Romanticism
Music of the Romantic period touches our hearts directly. Feeling, emotion, imagination and individualism are essential to bring over the content of 19th century masterpieces. The most typical setting for the music of that time, featuring violin (Noa Eyl) and the original grand piano of Princess Marianne (Maciej Wierzchołowski) gives the perfect idea of musical amusement of that beautiful era. The programme opens and ends with lyrical miniatures by Edward Elgar, includes the elegant Sonatina by Franz Schubert and nostalgic sounds of Frederic Chopin. Excerpts of letters, poems, and little anecdotes from the time integrate the music pieces, creating the atmosphere of cultural salon of Princess Marianne.
